DJ-JFK NFR.FM Playlist - EWF Tribute Show - 23-07-10

Last Friday I put together my own personal tribute to the band that I have been following since the early 70's!

In the beginning we heard the 'radio friendly' stuff that shot them to fame and International stardom. Only much later did I discover the real EWF from their early jazz and funk influenced albums showcasing the amazing craftsmanship of their talent.

You didn't hear 'September' or 'Boogie Wonderland' and those tracks certainly had their place but rather some selected tracks and also their influence on other artists and bands as producers or co-writers!

The Pockets  - Got To Find my Way - Produced by Verdine White (album 'Take it on Up' 1978)
Glenn Jones - Keep On Doin' - Produced by Al McKay with Ralph Johnson and Philip Bailey on percussion.
Dee Dee Bridgewater - Tequila Mockingbird - Co-written and Ft. Larry Dunn (Album Bad for Me 1979)
Paulinho Da Costa - Deja Vu Ft. Philip Bailey on vocals (album Happy People 1979)
Ronnie Laws - All for you - Ft. Larry Dunn (album Flame 1978)
Ramsey Lewis - Sun Goddess (1974) Classic harmonies from Maurice White and Philip Bailey
Stanley Turrentine - Only You & Me Ft. Dianne Reeves (co-written by Larry Dunn) album Tender Togetherness (1981)

Many thanks to the funky folk who joined us in the Chatroom, Big Phil, The Herford Posse, Funky, Robert B, DJ Angel, Schnute, Charlie Murphy, Jazzylegs and Mr Soul Power himself Sean G!

Here is the Playlist:
